Strict Faceted Classification

By far the most common question asked of Facetmap is, "Why can't I assign multiple headings, from a single facet, to one of my resources? Isn't that the whole point of faceted classification?"

The brief answer is, that's not the point of faceted classification. That's what tags are for. Faceted classification has a stricter model, and for good reason. The longer answer requires a bit of explanation, and is presented in this paper.
